AI Is a Tool, Not a Solution: Yetty Williams on Raising the Next Generation in a Digital World

Parenting coach Yetty Williams believes AI works best as a tool, not a solution, for modern parents and leaders. On the latest episode of The Coaching Edge Podcast, hosts Dr. Steve Jeffs and Erwin de Grave talk with Williams, founder of LagosMums and a certified life coach, about coaching across cultures, the seasons of adult life, and raising children who grew up with AI already in the room.

Williams built LagosMums in Nigeria in 2011 after finding no parenting resources built for African mothers. She now works with parents and business leaders across three continents, and she brings the same lens to both: technology only helps once you know your destination.

The conversation covers her three E framework for intentional parenting, education, empowerment, and empathy, along with a clear method for telling a genuine pivot apart from a distraction. Williams also pushes back on AI dependency, arguing that children need context from the adults who raise them, not more content from a screen.
